Pregnancy Ultrasound Vancouver Detail and Growth Scan (18+ Weeks)
Pregnancy ultrasound in the second and third trimester is used to assess fetal anatomy, growth, and overall well-being. These exams are a key part of prenatal care and are typically performed as a detailed anatomy scan at 18 to 22 weeks and, when indicated, a growth ultrasound in the third trimester (28 to 34 weeks).
What This Ultrasound Evaluates
Anatomy Scan (18 to 22 Weeks)
Also known as the 20-week anatomy scan for routine prenatal care at 18 to 22 weeks of pregnancy. The anatomy scan is a detailed pregnancy ultrasound performed in the second trimester to evaluate fetal development and screen for structural abnormalities.

Growth Ultrasound (28 to 34 Weeks)
Third trimester ultrasound used later in pregnancy to monitor fetal size, development, and well-being.
- Fetal growth and estimated fetal weight
- Amniotic fluid levels
- Fetal position (including breech or head-down)
- Placenta location and appearance
- Interval changes compared to prior scans
- Follow-up after an anatomy scan
